Creedence Clearwater Revival, often referred to as CCR, was an American rock band active in the late 1960s and early 1970s. The band consisted of lead vocalist, lead guitarist, and primary songwriter John Fogerty, rhythm guitarist Tom Fogerty, bassist Stu Cook, and drummer Doug Clifford. Their musical style encompassed a range of genres including swamp rock, roots rock, and country rock. The band achieved mainstream success with their 1968 debut album, Creedence Clearwater Revival, which peaked at number two on the Billboard 200 chart. Their second album, Bayou Country, was released in January 1969 and reached number one on the Billboard 200. The group's third album, Green River, was released in August 1969 and peaked at number two on the Billboard 200. The fourth and final album by the band, Willy and the Poor Boys, was released in November 1969 and reached number three on the Billboard 200. The band's greatest hits include "Proud Mary", "Bad Moon Rising", "Green River", "Down on the Corner", and "Fortunate Son". Creedence Clearwater Revival is often cited as an influence by subsequent generations of musicians, including Bruce Springsteen, John Mellencamp, and Tom Petty. In 2007, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
